Sometimes referred to as the ‘Andrew Carnegie secret’, the ‘Think And Grow Rich Secret’ hidden in the book of the same name continues to allude many people , are you one of them?

One fascinating aspect of Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is that the author, Napoleon Hill has placed within the pages a grand secret which was supposedly told to him by Andrew Carnegie which he alludes to throughout, and even speaks about at the very start of the book but never actually states what the Think And Grow Rich secret is:

Extract From The Author’s Preface To The Original Edition:

“The secret to which I refer has been mentioned no fewer than a hundred times throughout this book. It has not been directly named as it seems to work more successfully when it is merely uncovered and left in sight, where those who are ready and searching for it may pick it up. If you are ready to put it to use, you will recognise it at least once in every chapter.

“May I provide one brief suggestion that may provide a clue by which the Carnegie secret may be recognised. It is this, all achievement, all achieved riches, have their beginning in an idea. If you are ready for the secret then you already possess one half of it, therefore you will readily recognise the other half of it the moment it reaches your mind.”

Thoughts…

There are a few different versions of what people the think and grow rich secret is and quite often we are told that it is better to not be told the think and grow rich secret but instead to work it our for yourself. It does beg the question how would you know whether you had worked it out correctly or not though.

Here are three common assertions as to what the think and grow rich secret might be:

1. The Law of Attraction. Possibly as there is a lot written in the book about visualization and affirmations but the law of attraction itself is not really mentioned in every chapter and there is also a great deal of emphasis placed on things such as planning and masterminds.
2. A burning desire for something. Well a burning desire is certainly mentioned more than a hundred times in the book and all of the millionaires that were studied seemed to have a clear idea of exactly what they wanted. Maybe this is the think and grow rich secret?
3. You become what you think about most of the time. Not quite earth shattering but a pretty sound bet I would imagine. If you look at your life for the way it is now and then compare them to the thoughts you were having about your life in the past, do they match up? For most people the answer is usually a resounding yes! So, therefore it must follow that changing your thoughts now can bring you what you desire in the future, right!?
4. Nothing more than a sales trick! Some people are convinced that the curious preface regarding a hidden think and grow rich secret was nothing more than a subliminal coaxing to try and make people buy more of the  books in his series, for example: ‘The Law of Success’. Who knows. maybe there is some truth in that, but on the other hand…
