Subliminal Messages – What’s That All About?
For the duration of our life time to date we have been subjected to subliminal messages, most commonly through visual subliminal messages in television advertising as the above clips show. Here the subliminal messages are sent via the flashing of a written message on the screen or via subtle pictures. The written messages are not on the screen long enough to be read consciously however the sub-conscious mind can still take them in.
Auditory subliminal messages may also be present in advertising/music tracks but are more difficult to trace as the messages are often very faint, reversed or disguised in some other way that our conscious mind cannot pick up on but our sub-conscious mind can. Here you can access samples of subliminal messaging audios/mp3s common in the personal development field at persent.
The reason it is important to bypass the conscious mind is because that is the reasoning/logical part of your mind that will resist new messages. If you don’t like fast food for example and someone tells you ”You love Macdonalds” you are not going to suddenly agree with them, you already have set beliefs regarding this and logically that statement does not coincide with them.
However if over time you are sent a barrage of subliminal messages saying that you do, then depending on the effectiveness of the messages and your openness to them, you may find yourself one day tucking in to a big Mac and wandering why you haven’t been eating Macdonalds for all these years.
Another example, if you want to become a good public speaker and you repeat positive affirmations to yourself, such as “I am a confident and impressive public speaker”, when you know that you actually get very shy and nervous when public speaking, then you may feel uneasy and reject this statement thus your inner beliefs and behaviour will stay the same.
On the other hand if you send yourself the same message subliminally via brain entrainment audios then the subconscious mind, which knows nothing of reason, can let the message through and your old belief can in effect be reprogrammed to the new belief of being a confident public speaker over time and alter your future behaviour accordingly. This is the basis for personal development brain entrainment subliminal messaging audio mp3s and software.
Subliminal Messages And Brain Entrainment Technologies
Rather than be subject to subliminal messages that others are sending out (which you may not necessarily agree with) wouldn’t it be nice to intervene and instead deliberately choose what subliminal messages you receive. That is exactly what subliminal messaging technologies now allow anyone to do. There are two main ways of doing this:
- 1) Subliminal audios – These are usually music tracks containing relaxing music that have positive affirmations played in the background that you cannot hear. When bought from a store you can choose the type of positive affirmations that you would like. These can be regarding any area of your life you choose. For example, if you wanted to lose weight you could choose an audio with the following affirmations in the background: I am losing weight easily, I am thin, I enjoy eating only healthy foods. These subliminal messages should then replace whatever your original beliefs were and thus make it easier for you to lose weight.
- 2) Subliminal software – These are regular pieces of software (such as Mind Zoom) that you upload to your laptop or PC and will allow positive affirmations to flash up across your screen too quickly for your conscious mind to make sense of yet easily detectable by your sub-conscious mind. Once more the positive affirmations can be selected regarding any area of your life you so wish thus allowing you to change your belief pattern regarding that area of your life.
How Fast Can Subliminal Messages Get Results
Subliminal audios and software work by altering your limiting beliefs to positive beliefs over time and thus gradually changing your behaviour to match the new belief. The speed of change depends on a variety of factors which may be difficult to quantify, for example how deep seated the belief that you are trying to change is, how open you are to change and so on.
Having said that, when used appropriately the subliminal audio retailers that I have reviewed, state that they tend to get significant results after around two weeks. Of course everyone is different but remember that subliminal messages are unique in that they are genuinely easy to use and do produce results effortlessly. Considering how much more successful your life could be if you were to change your belief patterns in the areas of your choice then two weeks is very little considering that changes to your beliefs are generally permanent lasting a life time!
Evidence For Subliminal Messaging
Since the late 18th century subliminal messaging has been known about and used by advertisers in similar ways to those described above in television, cinema and radio commercials and was considered to be almost standard practise.
However brain washing became the new public fear and as such subliminal messaging was subsequently banned from advertising and remains so to this day. Clearly advertisers felt it a technique worth investing in, which in itself supports the argument that subliminal messaging works.
Many scientific studies have now been conducted regarding subliminal messaging. They are often along the lines of this experiment taken from the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease (1986) – Kaser, VA: “The Effects of an Auditory Subliminal Perception Message Upon the Production of Images and Dreams.”
A three digit number was played as a subliminal message behind white noise. There were two groups, a control group who were not sent subliminal messages and a trial group who were sent the three digit number. The trial was done three times and found that an average of 77% people from the trial group guessed the three digit number correctly as compared to less than 10% in the control groups. The results clearly confirming that subliminal messages can be perceived at an unconscious or subconscious level.
Who Uses Subliminal Messaging Technology?
Apparently celebrity and sportsmen alike are quite big into subliminal messaging with Tiger Woods, Steven Spielberg and Anthony Robbins all having confessed to using them. It is probably a fair bet that if they do others will have followed.
The following big name companies are also known to have used this technology: AT&T, the US Army, Time Warner, Nationwide Insurance, Xerox, Intel, KPMG, IBM, FedEx, the BBC, British Telecom, UPS, Sun, Deloitte & Touche, Dow Jones, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Network Solutions, Merrill Lynch, the Discovery Channel, Fujitsu, and even Microsoft.
They might not be everyone’s cup of tea but worth a try for sure!
